Why We Love It
Anchorage, known for its cold temperatures, glacier scenery and outdoor adventure, is a city proud of its reindeer sausage hot dogs, Alaskan king crabs, espresso shacks, and, of course, views of the Aurora Borealis (aka the Northern Lights). As nature and wildlife are prominent in Alaskan culture, there are regular sightings of black bears, grizzlies, moose, wolves, beluga whales and Bald Eagles. At times, it may seem like an episode on the Discovery Channel.
